Seven disciplines separate a business that runs well from one that quietly leaks value. Most owners are strong in the ones they came up through, and have never had a reason to look at the rest.

Ten questions below. Answer them the way you’d answer them to yourself, not the way you’d answer them to a bank.

Tap an answer and move on.

Strategy

1. Is the business working to one plan, or several?

Execution

2. Of what you planned to do last quarter, how much actually got done?

Pricing & margin

3. When did you last check your prices against your actual margins?

Reporting

4. Do your monthly numbers arrive in time to change a decision?

Cash

5. Do you know how much cash the business will have in ninety days?

Funding

6. If you needed funding in the next twelve months, do you know what a lender would say?

The last four cover structure, tax, succession and exit. They score how deliberate your setup is — nothing more. On anything regulated: we architect the strategy and coordinate your registered tax adviser / accountant / lawyer to implement it.

Asset protection

7. Are your personal assets separated from the trading business?

Tax structure

8. Has your tax structure been looked at since the business changed shape?

Succession

9. Could the business trade for three months without you in it?

Exit readiness

10. If an offer landed next month, could you hand over clean numbers and a clean structure?

A few are still blank. Answer all ten and the score appears.

What the number can’t tell you

It tells you where to look. It doesn’t tell you what a fix is worth, what order to do things in, or which gap is costing you and which one just looks untidy. That takes your numbers, and a conversation.

On anything regulated — tax, structure, succession, exit — we architect the strategy and coordinate your registered tax adviser / accountant / lawyer to implement it. Your accountant stays your accountant.

The Seven Score is not tax, legal or financial advice. It’s ten questions and a number.

One more, so the next step is the right one.

Roughly, what does the business turn over?

It isn’t scored. It shapes what’s useful next, nothing else.

Either way, the next step is a straight answer.

Pick a band above and we’ll say what’s actually useful from here — the guide, or thirty minutes with a senior adviser. Or skip it and send the situation straight through. We read every enquiry and reply within one business day.

    Worth thirty minutes.

At $3M and up, a weak discipline is expensive and slow to show itself, and the order you fix things in matters more than the score does. Thirty minutes, one meeting, no deck, no preparation. We read every enquiry and reply within one business day.

The usual first step after the score: the Business Health Check — $4,950, fixed fee, three weeks, a board-quality report across the seven disciplines, credited in full against your first retainer quarter if you engage within 60 days.

$22M → $32M revenue and +$4M net profit in one client engagement.

    Worth thirty minutes.

At $1–3M the seven are still cheap to fix, and the order you fix them in matters more than the score does. Thirty minutes, one meeting, no deck, no preparation. We read every enquiry and reply within one business day.

$2M → roughly $10M revenue over about three years, at around 30% EBITDA, in one client engagement.

The score reads the business. The bigger question is the family.

If there’s an operating business with a family behind it — succession unsettled, the next generation untested, ownership grown by accident — the useful next step isn’t a score. It’s the family work: governance, succession, readiness.

    Start with the guide.

Our retained work suits businesses from about $3M in revenue. Under $1M, the guide is the faster start: the same seven disciplines in full, what we look at and in what order. It’s free, and it’s the same thinking.
